Binance Executive Escaped from Custody!

A Binance executive has reportedly escaped custody during an investigation into tax evasion in Nigeria. Despite the arrested executive having no travel documents, Nigerian officials have initiated an investigation into how the escape occurred.

Fake Passport

According to reports, a Binance executive arrested by Nigerian authorities was reported to have escaped using a fake passport.

This news arrives at a time when the Nigerian government has opened a criminal case against cryptocurrency exchange Binance on charges of tax evasion. As stated by local media, the allegations were presented to the Federal High Court in Abuja last Monday.

Escaped from the Mosque where he was Taken for Worship!

Binance executives Nadeem Anjarwalla and Tigran Gambaryan were detained in a guest house in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, for several weeks. However, it was reported that after being taken to a nearby mosque for worship on Friday, March 22, Anjarwalla escaped from custody.

Anjarwalla, who is reported to have fled with a Middle Eastern airline, still holds a British passport that was used to enter Nigeria. He is said to have left the country with a Kenyan passport, and authorities are investigating this uncertain situation.

Court Decision

The court allowed the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to hold these two executives in custody for 14 days and mandated the Nigerian government to access the data and details of Nigerian investors using the Binance exchange.

Despite the court order, Binance cryptocurrency exchange refused to comply and extended the detention period by another 14 days.

According to government reports, Binance exchange was used in the laundering of approximately 21 billion dollars.
